® Council
NZPI
® is run by a National Council elected every two
years. It is comprised of the Executive Committee (President,
Vice-President, & Honorary Secretary/treasurer), eight
Councillors from around New Zealand, and a Councillor who is a
current Student or Recent Graduate of an Institute accredited
planning programme. The full Council meets approximately four
or five times a year, principally to deal with matters of
policy and to debate significant issues concerning the
profession. Councillors & Sub-committees, dealing with
topics such as education, membership, internal affairs,
legislation and publications handle much of the general
business.

Secretariat
The day to day administration of the Institute is the responsibility of the Secretariat. The Secretariat is accountable to the Executive Committee.
Young Planners Group
The Young Planners Group was established to provide services
and support for student and recently graduated members of
NZPI®.

Regional Branches
The National Council is ably supported ten Branches from throughout NZ, which serve to ensure effective contact between individual members and the National Council. Branches have regular meetings, seminars and workshops. They are active in assisting with continuing professional development and advancing local issues to central government, they run on a purely voluntary basis and cover from Northland to Southland.
