This one-day workshop is part of the Resource Consents Stream of CPD offered by NZPI , it has been designed

for planners in the early stages of their professional careers, or for more experienced planners with limited skills and knowledge of the topic. It will provide participants with an general introduction to the resource consent process and requirements under the Resource Management Act 1991(RMA)

LEARNING OUTCOMES
  • An understanding of the role of a consent authority (local council) in processing resource consent applications under the Resource Management Act 1991

  • To determine whether the application’s AEE contains sufficient information for the Consent Authority to accept that application

  • To gain an understanding of the skills required to access the information provided with the application and determine what further information may be required before a consent authority can adequately consider that application

  • To gain an understanding of the critical judgements required in determining whether an applications should proceed on a notified or non-notified basis

  • To gain an understanding of the issues the consent authority should consider when making a determination on the resource consent application

  • How to construct a well balanced decisions, including considering the appropriate conditions of consent.

PRESENTERS

Gina Sweetman

Gina Sweetman is an experienced planner with a wide range of experience, having worked for over 21 years in local and central government and currently private practice. She has a strong knowledge of all aspects of the RMA, with particular strengths in training, statutory planning and implementing best RMA practice into everyday practice. Gina is also an experienced accredited Hearings Commissioner and appointed Development Contributions Commissioner.


Cancellation and Refund Policy: Where a course is cancelled a full refund of fees will be made. For enrolment cancellations no refunds or invoice credits will be given where cancellation is advised seven (7) working days or less before a course. Enrolments are transferable to another attendee.
