Some of you will be aware that our National Young Planner Representative, Claire Lindsay has, with regret, resigned from the role and moved to London to be with her partner of many years. Whilst Claire was in the role for a very short time her passion and enthusiasm for planning and young planners in particular was marked and the NZPI Board is keenly aware of the loss to the Institute that Claire’s departure represents.

This leaves the position of National YP Representative vacant. I have sought the views of the YP reps and the Board on how that vacancy might best be filled. The consensus has been to invite the next highest polling candidate from the recently held YP election, Emma Howie, to take up the role of National YP Rep until the YP AGM is held in 2016.

That invite has now been issued and NZPI is delighted to advise that Emma has agreed to take up the challenge of leading the YP’s for the next 18 months. Congratulations Emma, we know that your skills and dedication will mean that the interests of our YPs are well served.

Finally, my thanks to Claire for her enthusiasm and contribution – we will miss you. And Emma , I can hear the cogs of your mind from here as you plan your contribution to the YP’s across the country, and I look forward to supporting you in your ambitions for our YP’s.
