The University of Auckland's School of Architecture and Planning urban planning degrees including subjects covering urban design, land use economics, urban planing law, policy-making and implementation, community and economic development, housing issues, Māori perspectives, cultural and heritage planning, infrastructure provision and urban ecology .

Career options in urban planning include working in central and local government, community groups, Iwi authorities, NGOs and private practice. Auckland graduates are currently employed throughout New Zealand, Asia, the Pacific, the UK, Europe, Australia and North America.

  • Bachelor of Planning (BPlan)
    From 2014 the Bachelor of Urban Planning (Honours) (BUrbPlan(Hons) replaced the Bachelor of Planning (BPlan). There will be no new admissions to the BPlan; however, the programme will be available until 2017 to allow those currently enrolled to complete their degree.
  • Master of Planning Practice (MPlanPrac)
    From 2012 the Master of Urban Planning (MUrbPlan) replaces the Master of Planning Practice (MPlanPrac). There will be no new admissions to the MPlanPrac; however, the programme will be available until 2017 to allow those currently enrolled to complete their degree.
  • Bachelor of Town Planning (BTP)
