Wellington City District Plan Pre-1930 Character Area Review
This project showcases creative use of off-the-shelf software to facilitate a cost-effective method of data collection, and creation of an online application that provides a bespoke engagement tool.
Boffa Miskell Limited and Wellington City Council took an innovative geospatial approach to a stocktake and review of six pre-1930 character areas.
Using a desktop application, they populated as many data fields as possible using information provided by Council and augmented with information gleaned from Google Street View.
These efficiencies, and development of an iPad-based App, allowed for field assessment to become a step of verification and correction rather than collection.
Use of the ArcGIS platform enabled development of a series of area-specific dashboards comprising filters, interactive charts and complementary statistics.
Detailed information and data trends are presented in a highly graphic manner that is intuitive and easily understood by end-users.
