During this session Dr Mohsen Mohammadzadeh elaborates on his topic: The Industrial 4.0, disruptive technologies and future planning in NZ (Aotearoa)

Industry 4.0 and its disruptive technologies are currently the subjects of intensive debate both in the academic literature and in the practical contexts. The previous three stages of the industrial revelation have included mechanisation, electrification and computerisation.

The introduction of a combination of disruptive technologies and concepts, including cyber-physical systems (CPS), internet of things/services, big data, artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning, and cloud computing initiates a new industrial stage which is called Industry 4.0 or the 4th industrial revolution. Industry 4.0 and its disruptive technologies are gradually transforming our everyday life by challenging the existing mechanisms and providing more efficient and effective alternatives.

Through this presentation, I will briefly introduce Industry 4.0 and its disruptive technologies. Then, I will explain how Industry 4.0 and its disruptive technologies will potentially transform planning in New Zealand (Aotearoa) by reviewing both challenges and opportunities.

There will be 30 minutes of presentation followed by 25 minutes of Q&A.
