Decisions of the
Environment Court, District Court, High Court and Court of Appeal pervade the
practice of those working in the resource management and planning fields. Case
law is literally developing on a daily basis. Keeping abreast of recent changes
to law from the Courts is an essential part of any practitioner’s knowledge
base. This seminar will cover key Auckland case law from the last couple of
years, including issues such as the primacy of mana whenua status, climate
change, construction and noise, and development outside the rural urban
boundary of the Auckland Unitary Plan.

Gerald Lanning will be covering and providing his insights on these key cases.
Gerald is a partner in Simpson Grierson’s local government and environment
group. He advises on all aspects of resource management and local government
law, with a focus on large infrastructure projects, land transport management
and policy, and Maori/Treaty of Waitangi issues. In addition to providing a
wide range of legal and strategic advice, Gerald regularly appears before a
range of decision-making bodies.
