Join us in an interesting lunchtime session; presented by Dr Lee Beattie and Mr Ian Munro.
Auckland, and many other New Zealand centres have a long
history of basing urban growth management and urban design strategies around
the concepts of transit oriented development, or TOD’s and along public
transport routes.
We question whether this approach has been
conceptualised correctly in the New Zealand context and what this would been
mean in a post Corvid 19 world for urban design and the ability to creative
resilient communities, as we return to the local?

Ian Munro
Ian Munro (B.Plan (Hons), M.Plan (Hons), M.Arch[Urb Des] (Hons), M.EnvLS
(Hons), MNZPI, Certified RMA Commissioner) is a self-employed planner
& urban designer, Hearings Commissioner with in-depth work experience work across New Zealand, and a member of
the Auckland Council’s Urban Design Panel.
Dr Lee Beattie
Dr Lee Beattie (PhD, MNZPI MRSNZCertified RMA Commissioner) is the Deputy Head
of the University of Auckland School of Architecture and Planning and director
of the University’s urban design programme.
He is an urban planner and designer with over 25 years professional
experience in an extensive range of complex urban planning and urban design
matters and currently Auckland Council and Queenstown Lakes District Council Hearing
Commissioner and Chair of Auckland Council’s Urban Design Panel.
