The West Coast Regional Council recently
released their decisions on Plan Change 1 to their Regional Land and Water Plan
which focused on reviewing the boundaries of their Schedule 1 and 2 wetland
areas. This plan change came about because of a 2012 Environment Court Decision
which both added approximately 200 scheduled wetlands into the plan and
acknowledged that the boundaries for some wetlands were incorrect.
Alyce Heine, who worked on Plan Change 1, will explain the background to the
Plan Change, the process which the West Coast Regional Council went through to
review the wetland areas, and key learnings from the process.
This presentation will be suitable for anyone interested in wetlands, and will
be of particular interest to those who are involved in assessing wetlands or
are undertaking plan changes that include adding or amending wetland areas.
