Overview:

This short online course examines the NES FW and s360 stock exclusion regulations: what they do and don’t do, and what you’ll need to incorporate or change in freshwater plans. We’ll look at each of the key areas covered by NES and regulations, the connections with the NPSFM, key definitions, and the key overlaps and gaps with existing regulations and regional plans. We will explore some emerging challenges in using the regulations. We will point you in the direction of useful resources, and provide the opportunity to discuss challenges and questions with the rest of the group.

Learning outcome:

On completion of the course you will understand the key aspects of the NES and regulations, the challenges for using them in a planning context, along with what changes or additions are likely to be needed in regional plans to meet the regulatory requirements.

Who should attend:

This course is primarily aimed at practitioners working at the interface of the NES and regulations with regional plans, in particular those tasked with writing or updating regional plans to be consistent with the NES and regulations. The course is not aimed at those testing compliance or monitoring the regulations, or those implementing it at a practical level (eg on the farm).
