ABOUT: WORLD TOWN PLANNING DAY
World Town Planning Day is
celebrated each November and recognises and promotes the role of planning in
creating liveable communities. Every year the New Zealand Planning Institute
(NZPI) celebrates World Town Planning Day with events that feature presenters
who are leaders in their respective fields .
The theme for this year's World Town Planning Day is Housing Regeneration:
Strengthening Communities.

Glen Sowry is CEO of Housing New Zealand, whose core role is to provide safe,
warm, and dry rental homes for people in the greatest need for as long as
required.
Penny Hulse was selected as the first Deputy Mayor of the newly-formed Auckland
Council in 2010. As chair of the Auckland Development and Auckland
Plan Committees, Penny has led some of the most important aspects of Auckland
Council's programme including successfully leading the challenging Auckland
Unitary Plan process.
Lee Beattie is an urban planner with 21 years' professional experience.
He has qualifications in urban planning and design, and environmental
science. Lee is currently deputy head of the School of Architecture and
Planning where he is head of the urban planning programme.
