Message from the Awards Chair, Dean Chrystal
It is with much pleasure that I, as Chair of the Awards
Panel, commend to you the winners of the 2011 New Zealand
Planning Institute Awards.
The excellent range of projects, plans, strategies, teams and individuals nominated for this year's awards reflects the quality and diversity of our profession. The Panel was particularly impressed with the range and depth of work being undertaken throughout the country and the leadership exhibited by many of the work examples clearly showcasing planners and the profession.
As you will see this year has been an unusual one in that the Panel has chosen to offer recognition to an individual through the Gold Medal Award. The recipient of the Gold Medal Award along with the other award winners are worthy recipients of NZPI recognition and applause. Congratulations to all.
My warmest thanks also to my colleagues Jane Douglas and Bryce Julyan who shared with me both the privilege and responsibility of selecting recipients and to those many members and organisations who prepared nominations for the range of awards we considered. The standard of nominations was outstanding.
