The President of NZPI, Jane Douglas and Vice President of NZPI, Dean Chrystal have been invited by Christchurch City Council to become members on an Advisory Panel to assist in recovery planning for Christchurch. The Advisory Panel will contribute to the DRAFT Central City Plan on issues such as Built Form, Public Spaces and Green Infrastructure.
Christchurch City Council has just seven months to develop the Central City Plan and present it to the Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority (CERA) for approval. The Draft Central City Plan is expected to be released for public consultation in mid August and to be finalised in December 2011.
In order to develop the Draft Plan, the Council is seeking input from key groups representing the interests of stakeholders in our central city. The Council has established work streams representing different aspects of the city plan (e.g. economic, social, infrastructure and built form). An expert advisory panel, that provides ongoing input into the plan, is being created to assist each work stream.
The first meeting for this advisory panel is scheduled for:
Tuesday, 31 May
Time: 9:30 am to 11:30 pm
Location: The George Hotel (50 Park Terrace)
The agenda for the first meeting includes the role of the advisory panel, the city plan development process and the creation of a professional design competition to encourage innovation and to capture ideas from our professional design community.
