Panui for Maori Planning Hui

Tena koutou katoa, this panui is to both let you know about the upcoming Maori Planning hui to be held on Tuesday 1 May at the Marlborough Convention Centre, Blenheim and to find speakers to talk at the hui on the four different themes.

The hui will run from 10:30am 4:30pm and is being sponsored by Te Puni Kokiri. It is free for participants to attend.

This second national Maori Planning hui provides a forum for people involved and interested in Maori planning issues to share ideas, practices and insights with others from around Aotearoa. There pre-NZPI conference workshops are intended to provide an additional opportunity to discuss in more detail key planning issues for Aotearoa and provide a great opportunity for participants to share the matauranga gained at the hui with others at the NZPI conference.

The hui will be framed around the themes of the Conference framed in terms of a Maori world view, values and perspectives:

  • Kia Toitu Nga Kainga - Resilience
  • Nga Ture me te Kawanatanga - Governance
  • Nga Papa Pounamu - Partnerships
  • Kaitiakitanga Place and space

Each of these themes will be explored by topical speakers followed by a wananga so that attendees can bring their thoughts and ideas to the table.

Please get in touch with us if you would like the opportunity to present at the hui. Please also let us know about any topics you would like to have covered within these themes, and with suggestions of suitable speakers.

The hui will also be the formal launch of the Maori Planners Special Interest Group (SIG) within NZPI, with the endorsement of an Operating Agreement between the SIG and NZPI.

Both the hui and the SIG are open to everyone involved and interested in Maori planning issues, both NZPI members and non-members, Maori, Pakeha and others.

Again - Please get in touch with us if you would like the opportunity to present at the hui. Please also let us know about any topics you would like to have covered within these themes, and with suggestions of suitable speakers.
